Ordinary vacuum bags are laminates of two types of plastic, and that is exactly what makes them hard to recycle – the materials cannot be separated in the recycling stream. Recyclable vacuum bags are made of a single material and can therefore go in plastic recycling.
Recyclable or compostable?
Two different things. A recyclable bag goes back into the plastics cycle and becomes new plastic. A compostable bag breaks down in soil and disappears.
Which suits you depends on your waste handling. If you have working plastic recycling in your business, recyclable is usually the simplest in practice.
